About the Pieces
Are these pieces truly one of a kind?
Yes. Every piece starts with a unique slab of wood. The grain, the voids, the shape, the figure — no two slabs are the same, so no two pieces are the same. When a piece sells, it’s gone. I don’t make replicas.
What kind of wood do you use?
I work with whatever extraordinary slabs I can find — black walnut, burl maple, cherry, elm, ash, and sometimes things you’d never expect. I source from a network of Wisconsin wood dealers who specialize in unusual, highly figured material. The weirder the better.
What is the resin made of?
I use high-quality epoxy resin. It’s food-safe once cured, UV-resistant, and incredible durable. The colors are custom-mixed for each piece — most often amber, dee orange, or clear to let the wood show through.
How durable are these pieces?
Very. I use conversion varnish — the same finish commercial furniture manufacturers use on high-traffic surfaces. You can set a coffee mug, a wine glass, or a plate directly on the surface. No coasters necessary. These are made to be used, not just looked at.
Ordering & Shipping
How do I buy a piece?
Browse the collection, find something you love, and purchase directly on the site. If you have questions first, text or email me — I’m happy to send more photos, talk through dimensions, or help you decide.
Do you ship nationwide?
Yes. Pieces are professionally packed, full insured, and shipped via freight or UPS depending on size. I’ll give you a shipping quote before you buy. Local delivery in southeastern Wisconsin is available and often free.
How long does shipping take?
In-stock pieces ship within 5–7 business days. Commissions take 4–8 weeks for the build, plus shipping time. I’ll keep you updated throughout.
What’s your return policy?
If your piece arrives damaged, I’ll make it right immediately — full replacement or refund. Because each piece is handmade and one of a kind, I don’t accept returns for preference. If you’re unsure about fit, reach out before you buy. I’d rather help you find the right piece than deal with a return.
Commissions
How much does a commission cost?
Most commissions fall between $2,500 and $10,000, depending on the slab, the size, and the complexity. Smaller objects like serving boards start around $250. I’ll give you a firm quote before any work begins.
How long does a commission take?
Typically 4–8 weeks from deposit to delivery, depending on the piece. Sourcing the right slab can add time if I’m looking for something specific. I’ll give you a timeline estimate upfront.
Can I choose the wood?
Absolutely. Once I understand what you’re looking for, I’ll source options and send you photos. You pick the slab. If nothing feels right, we keep looking until it does.
Do I need to pay upfront?
A 50% deposit holds your spot and covers the slab and materials. The remaining 50% is due when the piece is complete and you’ve seen final photos. No surprises.
Care & Maintenance
How do I take care of my piece?
Wipe it down with a damp cloth. That’s genuinely it. The conversion varnish finish is tough enough for daily use. Avoid dragging sharp objects across the surface, and don’t leave standing water on it for hours. But normal life? Coffee mugs, dinner plates, elbows, laptops — all fine.
Will the wood change over time?
Slightly, yes. Wood is a natural material, and it will develop a deeper patina with age and light exposure. This is a feature, not a bug. Your piece will look even better in five years than it does today.
